Transition Town Langport

Transition Town Langport is a  group of individuals  committed to improving the way in which the Town approaches its environmental responsibilities, particularly in respect of Peak Oil and Climate Change.

They have tried to tackle the problem of the excessive use of plastic bags by the introduction of a re-usable bag carrying the Transition Langport logo. This is available from several of the retailers in the Town.

On April 4th 2009 Transition Town Langport held a major Launch Event "THE GREAT UNLEASHING" which took place in the Ridgway Hall and on Cocklemoor. Guest of honour was Glastonbury Festival promoter Michael Eavis, who planted a tree to mark the official launch of the group.

Recent activities have included a very successful litter pick around the area, which is due to be repeated over the Easter weekend.

The group meet regularly on the 2nd Tuesday of the month, in the evening, at the Great Bow Warhouse, Great Bow Yard, Langport.
