Huish Episcopi and Langport Joint Committee

In late July 2005, the Town Council and Huish Episcopi Parish Council formally agreed that there were significant areas of overlap between the responsibilities of the 2 councils.

It was agreed to set up a Joint Committee consisting of 4 councillors from each of the 2 Councils, together with the 2 clerks.

The committee meets regularly to discuss any items that affect both Langport and Huish Episcopi, and to take decisions on how they should be addressed. Any decision taken by the Joint Committee has to be ratified by the individual councils regular meetings.

It is hoped that the level of co-operation between the 2 councils will continue to increase to the mutual benefit of the residents of both authorities.
